☆Hisashi Urashima Photo Exhibition “Poem of Harunire” in Commemoration of Omori Garden’s 10th Anniversary

July 15 is the🍓Summer Strawberry Day🍓！

Summer strawberries, a brand new crop in the towns of Urakawa and Samani, which mainly produce a variety called “Suzuakane,” have been attracting attention in recent years for their high quality and production volume.

To celebrate “Summer Strawberry Day”, we will be holding Summer Strawberry Day events in Samani town on July 13 (Fri.) and Urakawa town on July 15 (Sun.)!

The Hiroo Delicious Town Development Association holds events such as the “Shishamo Rally” and the “Hakkaku Fair” to promote foods produced in Hiroo.

This year, we will be holding a new “Hiroo Hokkigai (clam) Fair”!

Tomakomai is the most famous place to catch Hokkigai, but they are also caught in the eastern part of Hokkaido, including Hiroo Town. We hope you will take this opportunity to taste the Hokkigai caught in Hiroo Town.

The Hiroo Azalea Festival will be held again this year!

The Hiroo Azalea Festival is held every year on the last Saturday of May, when the Ezo yamatsutsuji (Japanese azalea) bloom their brilliant vermilion flowers and are at their best.

On the day of the event, there will be a lot of things going on, such as street performances and other stage events, “Sennin nabe (1,000-person hot pot)” using the salmon that is in season right now, the “Shishamon Pick,” a B-grade gourmet “sharoquette” eating contest, and a candy distribution contest for children where they can win gorgeous prizes. There will also be a food market with free grill rentals.

We also provide free transportation for the elderly and physically challenged, please see the attached brochure for details.

This weekend is the best time to see azaleas. Enjoy the flowers and dango (mochi) at the Hiroo Azalea Festival!

The 10th Annual Samani Sea Urchin Festival will be held on Sunday, May 20!

This is a popular event where fresh sea urchins from Samani beachs are sold at discount prices. Every year, the event attracts many visitors and the place is always crowded. We had over 4,000 people visited last year!!

In addition to sea urchins in shells, there is a wide selection of seasonal seafood such as hokkigai(clam), grilled whelk, octopus skewers, and other specialties of Samani Town. BBQ stoves can be rented for a fee, so you can taste the sea urchin on the spot! Enjoy the “spring sea urchin” of Samani in a location where you can see Mount Apoi and Cape Enrumu!(^^)/

If you are staying in Samani, you can also purchase the voucher in advance at the accommodation facility! If you’ve come all this way and can’t buy sea urchin, what are you going to do? Please stay in Samani Town!

Now we are set for 51th Yushun no sato Urakawa Cherry Blossom Festival!

Come to the 2 day event at the 51nd Yushun no sato Urakawa Cherry Blossom Festival on May 5 and 6.
This year’s festival will also feature a variety of events, such as nighttime cherry blossom illumination, sales of cherry blossom sweets, and a raffle of local specialties, so please come out to the Urakawa Cherry Blossom Festival!

The 3km long Yusun Sakura Road, lined with about 1,000 Ezo yamazakura cherry trees, is sure to be an Instagram favorite.🌸
There will also be an Instagram campaign where you can take pictures of the cherry blossoms in Urakawa and win gorgeous prizes!

On February 25 (Sun), “Geo-cafe” will be held. Geo-cafe is a mock café where people can exchange ideas and opinions about the activities of the Mt. Apoi Geopark and community development. The third Geo-cafe this year will be held at the Urakawa Town Cultural Hall.

The theme of this year’s Geo-cafe was “Let’s create a mock tour highlighting attractions from Samani and Urakawa to New Chitose! We will invite Mr. Yuhora from Tokuyama University in Yamaguchi prefecture and discuss the attractions between Samani and New Chitose and make a tour.

At first glance, the word “Geopark” may sound intimidating, but it is not. Of course, since it is a “cafe”, tea and snacks will be provided. Please feel free to join us.
